WATER: Its importance for life on earth
This post is all about facts of water, importance of water for life on earth, and let us know about water uses and its importance in detail.
Water: Water is one of the important resource, and there is no life on earth without this resource, water is the main constituent of earths hydrosphere. let us know in brief about water importance and its uses for life on earth.
Water(universal solvent) is an inorganic compound with chemical formula H2O. It has two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
As Water is a transparent, tasteless ,odourless, and nearly colourless chemical substance.
Water exist on earth as solid, liquid and gas forms.this is the only common substance to exist as a solid liquid and gas in normal terrestrial conditions.
Almost all the processes that make up “LIFE ON EARTH” can be broken down into chemical reactions and most of those reactions requires a liquid(water) to breakdown, to move and interact freely.
Almost 70% of the planet is covered with water, however 97% of all the water on earth is seawater, which we cannot drink as it is salty.
Only 3% of all water on the planet is fresh and drinkable but out of that 3% , the majority is locked in the polar ice cape and glaciers, so that the actual amount of fresh drinkable water on earth is about 1%, with this we can say water is an essential and precious resource.
